History of the Parents' Forum
The Brighton & Hove Parents' Forum was setup in October 2005 after 18 months of consulting with parents and professionals running children's services in the city, to see what parents wanted really wanted in the way of decision making.
As a core group of parents with children of different ages we came together to make a recommendation to the Children and Young People's Trust Board to receive funding to support the forum in setting up, and to also have two places for parents to sit on the Children and Young People's Trust Board to be part of the official decision making process.
We have since employed a part-time development co-ordinator and held an information workshop for professionals to try and increase our reach to parents from already existing groups. We also hold our own budget and are now working on the publicity needed to reach parents and carers from all areas of the city with many different experiences of bringing up children.
As the Core Strategic Group we have also organised events to help us to involve and consult with parents and carers from across the city and set-up this website and the discussion boards to help us to connect the parents of Brighton & Hove together!
