Summer 2008 Ridiculous fights Top 5
I have found this summer holidays very trying (and tiring) and that is for two reasons
One being the weather. For years we have heard about global warming and melting ice caps. Little did I know that this summer I would be standing on one, wishing I could find where the 'warming' is.
We started the summer with the highest of anticipation and bought a pool. Not one of those ickle little splash pools. This thing takes up the whole of my patio. When I brought up the idea of the pool to the other half and he agreed, I envisioned sitting out in a comfy chair in the shade and watching the boys splashing about. Boy did I come crashing down to earth with a bang. First the youngest refused to go in as it is too big and too cold for him. Then the lovely English weather took a turn for the worst and that pool has stood there untouched for weeks and is now full of algae. My lovely relaxing 6 weeks turned into a contest for my boys as to who could drive me most around the bend (that being the second reason). Their fights have been of such a dizzying selection of annoyance and absolutely ludicrous that I have decided to entertain you with their Summer 2008 Ridiculous fights Top 5.
Number 5: He's too young for my toys. This is a new one. The eldest discovered this year that all toys have an age on them. This has allowed him to use this as a reason for his brother not being allowed to touch his toys. He is always asking what the ages of even his oldest toys are. Yesterday he used it concerning his old stuffed bear that he got as a baby. This one is a 1 out of 10 on the irritation scale.
Number 4: He has taken my space. Now this is an oldie, but a goodie. This one is often fought with regularity. Depending on the timing of the fight the irritation level can be anywhere from a 3 to a 5 out of 10.
Number 3: He slapped me (usually accompanied with sobs from the oldest after being attacked by his brother who is 4 years younger and easily half his size.) As the youngest is going through this lovely phase of striking out whenever annoyed, this one is played out usually once every hour. The real kicker about this one is that he is taunted and wound up continuously by the poor sweet maligned eldest one and as he is not very confident with speaking, he literally lets his fists do the talking. This one is a 5 out of 10 on the irritation scale.
Number 2: MINE!!!!!!!!! This is the youngest ones comment to just about anything at anytime. The eldest can be sitting on the couch quietly watching something and if he even looks at his brother the screaming starts. This one almost made number 1 on this list as it an almost hourly argument that can be about food or toys. This is a 9 out of 10 on the irritation scale.
Number 1: He took my Soul..Brain.nose..heart...etc (See previous blog for further details about this one) I can not get my head around how this fun game came about and it really drives me crazy. It doesnt matter that there is nothing physically in their hands, they are convinced that their brain or whatever is in their brothers hands. This is a 10 out of 10 in the irritation scale as I can not imagine anything being worse than this.
Roll on school! I will get my sanity back!
